Shattergun is one of the intel found at Triton Outpost. It is an overview for the Shattergun.

Glass rounds containing melanite and Fuse are fired at high velocity, creating a violent molecular reaction at the point of impact with the target. When the round shatters, the Fuse reacts with the melanite and rapidly replicates the augmented substance, encasing that target  in living crystal. Immobilization persists until the crystal's molecular structure erodes a short time later.

The Shattergun was the first working Xenotech prototype approved for field trials. It was initially engineered as a nonlethal crowd control weapon for use in urban riots. Hyperion scientists were able to synthesize a form of melanite that would not harm the crystallized victim, however they could not make it bulletproof. This drawback enables the operator to eliminate the victim with just a few extra shots from traditional firearms, or even the Shattergun itself.
